hey, i have a 69 55hp johnson, i just bought it and it barely ran and missed. i found that the plug wires were arching out on the flywheel so i replaced them, then it ran better and now it has no spark at all. It has a pulse ignition module and that gets a little warm now that it doesnt have spark i wonder if thats shot ? im out of ideas

I haven't worked on the 5hp, but I belive that is a non-shift model , simular to Tom's Lightwin, so it should be an easy job (no shift rod to disconnect). Remove the (4?) bolts that connect the gearcase to the lower unit, remove the gearcase. Look for any O rings that may be on the driveshaft or water tube, don't loose them. Remove the water pump cover. Remove the impeller pin (don't loose that either), replace the impeller. Make sure it is inserted in the same direction as the old one. Some guys lubricate the inside of the cover with anti-freeze or a LIGHT coating of grease. Re-assemble. Before you re-attach the grarcase to the lower unit, make sure you lightly coat the splines of the driveshaft where if fits into the crankshaft with waterproof grease. Align the water tube and driveshaft splines with the powerhead and crankshaft, bolt 'er up. Fire it up and check for pumping water. Good luck
