I have a problem with the engine "bucking" when I try to accelerate. I have replaced the points, all 3 coils and both plugs. I then rebuilt the carb and replaced the fuel pump. The tank screen is clean and compresion is strong. I even checked the drive gears and they are great. The engine will idle fine, but you cannot get past a fast idle before the bucking starts.

I am pretty sure that my 1973 Johnson needs a new fuel pump. Had my boat out a couple weeks ago and it ran great. Started right up after winter storage and ran about 3 gallons of gas through it. 2 weeks later it starts and runs fine at idle speed but cannot run fast. Squeezing the ball on the gas line doesn't help. Switching to the other tank didn't help either. Took apart the fuel filter and it looks new. Good gas. Started right up and ran well at idle. SO I think it is either a blocked gas line or bad fuel pump. Anything else it might be? Also where will I find a replacement pump? Thanks, Craig
