I acquired this outboard in April. The motor has been running great all summer, and all of the sudden it is not running at full speed. I have the tiller turned to full speed and it is only going about half as fast as it used to, the RPM's are not going full speed either. There is nothing wrapped up on the prop and I'm not sure what the problem is. The motor sounds healthy but just isn't going as fast as it should. Any ideas? ryanreppert@hotmail.com

Thanks for visiting.... Use an ohm meter and check the resistance through the secondary side of the coil. Test it while the plug wire is still attached. Use the other coil/plug wire to compare. Plug wires are easy enough to replace. If you are not compfortable with setting the timing, set your points at .030 inch and you will close.
